Why do I keep getting so many coldsores?

I have gotten coldsores since I was little, but now I am in my mid 20's. I usually get them like once a month and theyre bad I have tried every remedy out there abreva, lysine, blistex, pills... u name it. I just got one 2 weeks ago which just healed and sure enough I woke up this morning with another coldsore that is speading across the corner of my lip onto my chin. Its awful looking...any suggestionsss, cures, or causes?
