Big Bang and Large Hadron Collider?

So, supposedly the LHC is supposed to recreate what happened during the few milliseconds after the Big Bang. What I'm not understanding is how is a particle accelerator and the Big Bang are related? The Big Bang was not a collision of two atoms.
