Why aren't home econimics courses offered at colleges anymore?

True, very very few women would be "homemakers" as their cited main profession, but I still think an elective or two would be rather useful. Sure I could follow a recipe book, but I have no idea how to do more complicate homemaking tasks that could save our budget, and help me be more frugal.
