Is it common not to be able to talk to your spouse/fiance' for long periods of time if they are military?

My dad was over there, he was in Japan for 2 1/2 months, then Kuait (don't know how to spell it) but it would be up to 2 weeks before he'd be able to call. He's been in the war too, and it was the same. They don't have much "free" time over there. You're not in the wrong, but don't nag at him over it either. Just be supportive and grateful for the time you get to talk to him! Good luck hun. Its gotta be hard! Keep your head up!!!!!!
