A local grower gave a plant they called a pomagranny, but I can't find anything about it.?

After have a long conversation last spring with a local grower, she gave me a plant she called a pomagranny. It's not a pomegranate. It was a vining plant that produced small, almost fist sized fruit that I was told by the grower to cut and put out to make the house smell awesome. After it grew I decided I love this plant, and want to add it to my "only useful and edible" gardening scheme. The problem is I can't find any information on the plant, I think that it's not really called a pomagranny. I'm hoping someone out there would have some info on this and will be able to help me.
